What You Need to Know About World Environment Day

World Environment Day takes place every year on June 5 as an initiative of the United Nations to encourage worldwide awareness and action to protect the planet from environmental-related issues in an effort to ensure a healthier global environment for current and future generations to come.

Why is it important?

1.  It reconnects us to nature

Sometimes we forget just how nature contributes to our own well-being. Take a time today to appreciate nature!

2.   It raises awareness

More and more people are becoming aware of sustainability efforts and how to manage our planet’s resources. World Environment Day provides an opportunity for us to raise awareness about the true value of nature and our role to play in sustainably managing it. But of course, we have to make sure to walk the talk!

3.   It encourages us to take action

According to the United Nations, the emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the fact that, when we destroy biodiversity, we destroy the system that supports human life. World Environment Day inspires us to do something about it and fix the environment we can’t live without
