Vista Land Tops Off Second Vertical Development in the Summer Capital of the Philippines

Aug 29, 2024

Vista Land, the Philippines leading integrated property developer, proudly announces the topping-off of its second residential development in Baguio City, Pinehill.

During the ceremony, Teresa Tumbaga, Division Head of Vista Land High-Rise Development, expressed her enthusiasm about the vertical community in one of the country’s most scenic locales. "As we go through the final construction stages of Pinehill, we are delighted to offer future residents modern living amid the stunning landscapes and refreshing climate for which the City of Pines is renowned for," she stated.

Baguio City: Summer Capital of the Philippines

After going up the undulating roads that separate La Union from Benguet, the palpable chill and setting fog herald a city high up the mountains. The striking contrast of concrete roads and urban structures upon the landscape of Cordillera range is eased by the age-old allure of the location, while the distinct scent of pines and earth fills the air.

Once a hill station for American soldiers and civil workers, Baguio City has developed into a highly urbanized city 250 kilometers north of Manila. The American settlement in the 1900s made a significant impact on this 50-kilometer marshland, designing it into a compact garden city with a road and parking system reminiscent of stately cities in the United States. Traces of urban planning envisioned by architect Daniel H. Burnham still exist to this day, despite being devastated by the Second World War.

Over time, Baguio City has become a melting pot in Northern Luzon, with people from all over the region converging in the city for trade, tourism, and education. The cool climate is also its main draw, generally eight degrees lower in temperature compared to the lowlands. Known as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines”, the city has not only accommodated thousands of visitors annually wanting to escape the heat, but has also traditionally housed seats of power in the government during the hotter months.

While Baguio City takes pride in a number of tourist destinations, perhaps the crowning glory of the city is its rich culture deeply rooted in nature. From Benguet pine trees that span its panoramic views, the Panagbenga Festival that celebrates the blooming of flowers every February, to the reverence accorded to the Igorot way of life, every fabric of Baguio City is intricately woven into its tapestry of harmony and symbiosis.

The interconnectedness between people and their environment is especially considered in Hill Series, a collection of vertical communities built in key locations within Baguio City. Three mid-rise condominiums are tucked behind scenic roads, peeking out from graceful pine groves, or are blanketed by the crisp, chilly mist Baguio City is known for.

Swift and Convenient Expressways to Reach the City of Pines

The presence of road networks and expressways has considerably reduced travel time from Manila to Baguio to a scenic three hours on a good day. Travelers usually take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and proceed to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) through Exit 85, continuing their drive through Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) until the exit in Rosario, La Union. From here, visitors and residents have a choice between the winding paths of Kennon Road or the alternative route through Marcos Highway, to reach the city center.

SCTEX, one of the longest expressways in the country at 93.77 kilometers was constructed to provide an efficient transport corridor connecting Clark in Pampanga, Subic in Zambales, and Tarlac City in Tarlac. TPLEX on the other hand, spans 89.21 kilometers and follows a route parallel to MacArthur Highway, connecting Central Luzon to Ilocos Region.

Vista Land Hill Series Blends Nature and Culture in Baguio City

Brenthill Baguio, the foremost development, is located on the quiet Yangco Road, fronting Brent International School. A 10-storey ready-for-occupancy property, Brenthill Baguio has various views of the city, from the metroscape to the mountainside.

Rising 12 storeys along Outlook Drive is Pinehill Baguio, offering a low-density spread of condominiums that overlook the verdant slopes east of Burnham Park.

The current addition to Hill Series is Canyon Hill along Pacdal Road, a nine-storey development mere distance from the vibrant grounds of Baguio Botanical Garden.

Designed after cabin-style homes that nestle in quaint wooded areas, the Hill Series are modern sanctuaries that not only provide retreat from the chatter of the urban, but also incorporate convenient amenities and ease of access to necessities. The vertical communities lay out an array of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units replete with balconies, and facilities that include gyms, saunas, and game rooms with top-of-the-line equipment. The high ceilings of spacious lobbies welcome residents and visitors on the ground level, as well as the lounge areas and garden decks on the higher floors. The developments are tied together by an assembly of commercial spaces on the first floor that would cater to the basic needs of their residents.

With young professionals, starting-out families, settling retirees, and students of the Educational Hub of the North in mind, security features are added in Hill Series developments such as round-the-clock security, parking floors, and intelligent property management and building systems.
