Condo Tips: Importance COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols

Jan 18, 2022

Like we always say—it’s better to be safe than sorry. With the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and the Omicron variant, it is important to adhere to the safety protocols in order to sustain a healthy body and prevent ourselves from getting infected. In this time of the pandemic, we must keep in mind that compliance with precautions and restrictions is highly effective in avoiding the spread of the virus. It is important to secure ourselves and safely stay inside our condo unit if necessary.

What are the safety protocols and how are they relevant?

COVID-19 shouldn’t be taken easy—thousands of cases are being reported daily. This shows how scarily quick and wide the contagions are growing. To add, it is also terribly difficult once you get infected by it. The least we can do is to abide by the safety protocols and protect ourselves from this worrying situation. To reduce the risk of receiving the virus, it is important to observe the proper obeyance of these health protocols.

Social Distancing

Even within the closest of friends or family, it is still important to practice social distancing. Schools and offices are helping us in abiding by this safety procedure. As we switch from face-to-face classes to online or blended classes, they are considering our well-being by preventing us from being in close contact with others. Offices are doing the same thing by offering the work-from-home arrangement for their employees. There are other ways to stay connected with the people you love without having physical contact with them.

This is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of the virus as it is mainly spread through person-to-person contact. When near other people, close or not, it is better to maintain a distance of at least six feet from them. Avoiding close contact with one another is a good means to ensure the health of not only you but also everyone around you.

Wear a Mask

The wearing of face shields is now dropped on low alert level areas. However, we must keep our masks on at all times, especially outside our safe living in our condo unit. With this, it is important to wear our mask properly covering both our nose and mouth. If you are to cough or sneeze, keep your mask on, or best, replace your mask from time to time.

Masks and face coverings are a great help in preventing the wearer from transmitting the COVID-19 virus or any other illness to others. On the other hand, possible receivers of the virus are also greatly helped by the mask they are wearing as it protects us. By correctly wearing a mask, it decreases the wearer’s risk of catching and spreading the disease.

Keep Things Clean

A simple hygienic measure can help protect your health as well as everyone else’s big time. Wash your hands thoroughly with clean water and soap frequently for at least 20-30 seconds, take a bath as soon as you get back home, clean and disinfect your surroundings and always carry a hand sanitizer or alcohol everywhere you go.

Cleaning and disinfection are essential in the prevention of the spread of infection. With this, we are controlling and killing the virus and bacteria around us that may negatively affect our health. It is good to carry a spray of alcohol or a bottle of hand sanitizer as they keep our hands clean and disinfected is important if ever we touch our face. Clean surroundings help maintain a clean self.

Keep Your Immune System Strong

The immune system is our body’s defense system—we must build them up to reduce the risk of being infected by the coronavirus. A lot of people have already successfully fought and defeated this deadly virus with the help of their naturally strong immune systems. So eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, take multivitamins if necessary.

Our immune system can defeat this virus. Strengthening our immune system is not only important when it comes to fighting COVID-19, but it helps us prevent catching other diseases as well. With our bodies filled with vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial factors, we will be shielded from catching a horrifying case of the virus. Sure, a healthy surrounding is good, but isn’t it better to keep both a healthy environment and a healthy body?

Stay Home if Sick

Unless necessary, it is advised to not leave indoors and just stay at home. Schools and offices have already taken precautionary measures by not letting their students and employees attend face-to-face classes and even made the work arrangement work-from-home. Even just taking walks outside your condo building may give you the risk of being infected, so it’s better to stay indoors at all times.

Why are we advised to stay home? Simple. It prevents you from being exposed to bacteria, diseases, or worst-case scenario, the coronavirus. Staying at home also helps your body build your immune system as you are less exposed to possible diseases. Not only does it help reduce the risk of catching the virus from others who may have it, but it also helps if it’s the other way around. Staying indoors is also helpful in preventing yourself from spreading the virus or other diseases to others if ever you have it. This is why self-quarantining is also important at this point. If you are experiencing symptoms, or even just a slight cold, it’s best to quarantine yourself and observe your health and body. You shouldn’t ever ignore what your body tells you. As long as you feel not fine, even in the slightest bit, do not disregard it and stay at home to self-isolate.

Safety Precautions may Save Lives

Imagine if no one obeyed the safety precautions and just lived the way we were before, without worrying about the virus. A lot of people will be affected and the situation will only worsen. Let’s imagine the other way around. What if everyone abides by the safety precautions and didn’t neglect any of them, would things be better? Although it won’t make the COVID-19 disappear, it will definitely make a safer and healthier situation for us.

Now, let’s be real. COVID-19 is a tough enemy and without these safety precautions, the cases here in the Philippines might double, triple, even quadruple. Let’s admit it: safety precautions can save lives. So, despite having weapons like vaccines and cures to fight it off, we need to keep our guard up and build our defense as well. Like they say, defense is the best offense.

Yes, the spread of COVID-19 is alarming, so to save ourselves, as well as the people around us, it is important to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 health protocols. During these challenging times, it’s only proper to do the right thing, remain vigilant, and practice these safety precautions to ensure a low chance of risk. Whether vaccinated or not, it is now everyone’s responsibility to practice these protocols. Help starts with one's self, and if we really want to help in making the environment and situation better, let’s start by helping ourselves and doing what we are advised to do. So put on your mask, keep your environment clean, avoid all nonessential travel outside, and best stay in the comfort and safety of your condo living. Health is a priority, stay healthy!
