How to Spend a Meaningful Sunday in your Vista Residences Condo During Quarantine

Jun 10, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted us to celebrate a new kind of Sunday. With social distancing in place, the usual practices Filipinos associate with Sunday worship are currently adjusted for everyone’s safety.

It just means you can still celebrate the mass and attend the worship service via unique and different ways that do not lose the spirit of Sunday worship.

1. Follow mass and church activities online

While there are no physical masses and church services during the Quarantine, many churches are live streaming their masses and church services every Sunday. Check the social media pages of your preferred diocese or churches to see which ones have online activities – such as live stream of the mass, online worship concerts and bible study sessions.

2. Sunday movie marathon

Sundays are best spent with the family. This week, why not try watching biblical movies with your family! There’s a lot you can choose from: the 2004 film The Passion of the Christ, which depicted the passion of Jesus, specifically his crucifixion; the 2014 movie “Exodus: Gods and Kings” starring Christian Bale about Moses and how he led the Exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt (if you want something more family-friendly, try Disney’s animated movie “Prince of Egypt”); the 2014 movie “Noah”, inspired by the biblical story of Noah’s Ark.

A lot of the Biblical movies these days are pretty modern—this isn’t your grandfather’s The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston—so they aren’t also faithful depictions. But still, they will give you a chance to reflect on these Biblical stories.

3. Meditate and reflect

Set a specific time each day—perhaps one hour every day, depending on your needs and capacity—to reflect and meditate. This allows you to have some quiet time to calm and center yourselves during these stressful times. You can also read a Bible passage or the Gospel every day; if you don’t have a physical Bible at home, you can easily find these online.

4. Pray for the country

Praying means more especially during these trying times. Besides your own personal prayer, you can pray for the country and for protection and healing from coronavirus.
