Ways for Employees to Stay Longer in Their Jobs | Condo Tips

Jan 19, 2022

Ironically, as we look back to our younger selves, we can’t deny that we dreamt to have our dream jobs. We visualize ourselves working in a corporate world, wearing a black coat, slacks, heels, or leather shoes while carrying our laptop bags. It is too good to be true.

From that single thought, we strive to study hard. When needed for some personality development requirements, we will wear something that will show who we want ourselves to be a few years from then. Some wanted to be an engineer, architects, educators, sales consultants so on and so forth. The world has a lot of jobs to offer, and it is up to us and our desire what we will choose to take and we will dream to be.

Years passed by, such milestones were achieved. Academic recognition, organization volunteerism, and engaging in a wider scope of commitments are the things that we venture out for background experiences and insights. These events give us the view of what we will be facing once we earned our first job.

“You’re hired”, finally! As we heard or received those two words, we knew that it is our time to unleash what we got. This is the perfect time to use what we have learned from books, our professors, and in our school/university. Time to unveil the “employed” you! Ops, but let us not forget our excitement for our first salary.

Some are getting excited about their first day at work; some are nervous, anxious, and not fully ready to enter the new world. As you take your first step in your office, you will somewhat feel the ambiance of the world you will be having with your work. It feels good to have your corner, computer device, and maybe that swivel chair. It makes you feel and see yourself as a professional and not as a student anymore.

You will start to meet new friends from your workmates and colleagues, familiarize yourself with the new working environment and the heart-pounding moment as you meet your supervisor and the boss. You unconsciously start to adapt to your surrounding since you are also surrounded by professionals and primarily, you are in the corporate and business world. You are under someone’s supervision and you are holding the company’s pride, integrity, and name in the industry you are in. These thoughts will be slowly hitting and placing you in the reality. It gets bigger, wider, and heavier.

Fortunately, these responsibilities and obligations are tolerable that make you stay...and some aren’t good and not easy to handle that makes you leave.

Yes, it is possible that you will be quitting your dream job or any job that you are in for some reason. Realizations will hit your head that in the real world, there is good luck and bad luck. Looking and earning for a job may be included in that search for luck. Some are lucky, but some are not.

There are various reasons and factors why employees want to resign or quit their job. They can say that it is very common for a long-runner job-hunter or a working man to choose to resign.

They also say that before you submit your resignation letter, your employer is fully or has a hunch of it all.

Reasons Why Employees Quit Their Job

Employees feel underpaid.

Realistically and practically speaking, people work to live. People need to find work to earn money and manage it for necessities or daily expenses such as food, bills, house rent, grocery, and other additional expenditures. As much as every employee values their workloads, they also prioritize their need for the right compensation.

Employees cannot sense Professional Growth or Career Advancement.

Employees also dream to be one of the bosses. They ought to excel in their current position to aim for a higher position in the next years and be able to be engaged with the company’s business negotiations and growth. Everyone has a desire for career growth, indeed self-satisfaction.

Employees feel an insufficient Work-Life Balance.

Before the pandemic, employees are expected to work within the 8 AM-5 PM or 9 AM-5 PM work clock. Between those times, your time is just for your workloads and urgent meet-ups with the supervisor or other clients (besides lunchtime). Unfortunately, some employees are rendering overtime (being compensated with overtime pay) due to a huge number of workloads to be submitted the next day. Regardless of the pay, their right to go home early and fix household responsibilities are being declined and adjusted to their “unknown” free time and days.

Employees have no good work relationship with colleagues and the boss.

One of the employees’ dreams is to have a good and light working environment through making respected bonds and friendships with colleagues and supervisors. This will make the situation and pressure tolerable and give a positive mood to work. Hence, if not met, this will give you a negative vibe to enter your office and not be able to finish a big pile of workloads. The people around you are a great factor in why you choose to work and stay.

Employees are not happy and feel burnt out.

One of the common reasons why employees quit is that they are not happy with the work they have and their mental health gets worse. The pressure of attaining and finishing a bunch of workloads and the expectation of the industry in you is such a big responsibility. Nonetheless, being unhappy and unmotivated to work causes bad performance as a whole.

Reasons that Employers Think Why Their Employees Resign

Insufficient Pay Practices

Employers knew that their employees work for their company to earn a living. If they are not being paid equally and as to what they deserved, their employees may somewhat look for other companies who have more competitive salaries and benefits.

Huge Number of Workloads

Some workloads are tolerable, but there are also which are not endurable for an employee. The continuous pile of workloads is inevitable since all businesses run every day. This may seem tiring and uncontrollable, yet an employee has their mind and body limit per day.

Other Career Opportunities

Several opportunities are out there and there are always better opportunities than what you have now. Employers have no control when it comes to their employer’s desire for career growth. Thus, this leads them to a mutual decision.

Employees Personal Goals are not met.

Employers also aim for their employees’ personal goals and dreams. Even though it cost them to lose that employee in their company, they choose to let their employees go so they can achieve their desires.

Some factors are uncontrollable why employees had to quit jobs, but some reasons can be controlled to let your employees stay in your company.

Ways to Make Your Employees Stay in Their Jobs

Offer and Pay them Competitive Salaries

This is technically one of the big ways to make your employees stay in your company. Once you offer and pay them with above-average salaries, they will be motivated to work more and be more punctual within their stay in your company. Generally speaking, these salaries can slowly give them a chance to start investing in a ready for occupancy condo, getting a new car, starting a small business, and more.

Recognize their Efforts and Hard Work

Employees don’t work hard just for money, but they also work hard to be praised and recognized within the field that they are in. They desire to be praised by their colleagues and their supervisors, which makes them more competitive and strive to do better in their job.

Respect their Work-Life Responsibilities

Everyone deserves to have good work with such respect to personal lives. This respect bears the fruit of respect to their responsibility within the company. Once an employer allows them to live equally, as their employee and as someone who has a personal life, this will eventually make their employees be at their absolute best in their job.

Trust and allow them to Grow

Employers dream big for their business and company. Success will be met once good teamwork is done, and this teamwork will happen if there is trust between the employers and the employees. Employees deserve to be trusted and be allowed to grow in their careers. Once an employer trusted an employee with a responsibility that is quite bigger than the usual, he or she is also giving them a chance to learn and navigate more of his skills and abilities that he or she needs to unveil.

Give Them Training and Career Development

More than the fact that employees applied for their job because they somewhat know what should be done, they still deserve to be trained and be given practical and career development. This training will give them a wider range of knowledge and experiences that can be used to improve themselves as a part of the company.

Communicate with Them

Concerning the organizational hierarchy, success can also be seen from your subordinates. Communication between the supervisors and the staff is a great way to clear the tension and mishaps within the organization. This will open a lot of ideas, suggestions, concepts that may be a great asset to your company’s success.

Initiate Input and Feedback

Make your employees feel that they are seen, heard, and are a part of your company. They also need your feedback about their performance in the company and the company’s goal. This will help them improve themselves and be more reliable for the benefit of the company and everyone.

More of these include allowing them to work flexibly by working remotely in their dream condo-living set-up highlighting their preferred condo design that makes them a little bit more inspired.

It is also advisable to upgrade equipments such as computers, laptops, scanners, printers and more, that helps the performance of work a lot faster and easier. Having effective change management when needed, perks and reward system, wellness offerings, mentorship programs, relaxation time, and not threatening your employee’s job or salary for something are some of the ways to make your employees stay in their jobs.

In time of pandemic that many are working from home, it is important to also embody the ethics and dos of working away from your usual routine and your colleagues, but it is very essential to set boundaries with your personal and corporate life to avoid burnout. Remember that work-life balance is a factor to stay positive and productive.

There are lots of ways to manage your time properly and to protect your sanity, it is just a matter of responsibility, commitment, and being aware of what is and what isn't. If things are not working well for you, recalibrate stay on your track.
