Everything You Need to Know About Using EasyTrip RFID Sticker to Autosweep System

Jan 12, 2023

If you routinely drive to the north or south of the Metro, you've certainly seen firsthand the lengthy line of automobiles waiting to enter the toll gates. This show shouldn't come as a surprise because key thoroughfares, like the NLEX and SLEX in particular, are moving toward 100% cashless transactions.

Following the COVID-19 event, the government went all its ways to ensure public safety. One preventive action they've taken is to mandate that all motorists obtain an RFID, in addition to closing down offices, schools, and other non-essential buildings. This sticker should lessen the spread of the infection because it supports contactless transactions.

What is RFID?

In radio-frequency identification (RFID), tags that are attached to objects are tracked using radio waves. Both OE manufacturers and retailers frequently utilize RFID in the automotive industry to track assets.

Here in the Philippines, there is an RFID Sticker implemented way back in 2009 by the Land of Transportation Office (LTO). This refers to the method used by the aforementioned government agency to identify automobiles by "tagging" them with a special I.D., which a sticker can be used to read.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and The San Miguel Corporation (SMC), respectively, run the NLEX and SLEX. They provide RFIDs that can be put on your vehicle to enable speedy and secure travel.

AutoSweep and Easytrip's Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) stickers use electromagnetic fields to identify and monitor the automobiles that have the stickers. A radio transmitter, receiver, and transponder are all included in the RFID device.

Although there are alternative ways to communicate information, such as stickers with bar codes or even just plain old Q.R. codes, the new LTO RFID sticker was developed because it has a Q.R. code and can be read from a greater distance, for example, by a wall-mounted RFID reader.

Even handheld PDA-style devices are available that can read RFID stickers, which is helpful for law enforcement officials that enforce traffic laws, such as MMDA enforcers and the Philippine National Police.

Using EasyTrip RFID Sticker to Autosweep System

Since 2017, discussions have been brewing around the compatibility of highway operators' two RFID technologies. In 2020, when Autosweep RFIDs could be registered for usage with Easytrip systems, it was mysteriously expedited.

However, Easytrip's RFIDs couldn't be registered for use on Autosweep's system until two more years had passed and a congressional resolution had been passed.

SMC Infrastructure, the company that runs SLEX, Skyway, Skyway Stage 3, NAIAX, STAR, and TPLEX, has stated that Easytrip RFID customers would be able to enroll their Easytrip accounts with Autosweep's system starting January 15, 2023. So, on the aforementioned expressways, including the MCX, which is currently run by the Ayala Group, drivers may utilize their Easytrip RFIDs.

However, keep in mind that only the newest "Neology" Easytrip RFIDs will be compatible with Autosweep. Only the tollways run by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation currently support Easytrip RFIDs: NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C5 Link, Harbor Link, CALAX, and CCLEX.

More on Autosweep and Easytrip RFID Merge

Finally, drivers can now travel on all of Luzon's main expressways using a single RFID sticker.

Users of the Neology (RFID Duo) stickers from EasyTrip have been informed that they can now register their RFID with Autosweep in order to utilize it on SMC tollways like the TPLEX, Skyway System, NAIAx, SLEX, MCX, and Star.

The most recent sticker that EasyTrip provides to drivers is the Neology RFID / RFID Duo, which enables compatibility between the two toll operators. Existing EasyTrip users just need to visit the closest Easytrip RFID Station with their car and current RFID card in order to request a replacement RFID if they do not yet have the Neology RFID / RFID Duo stickers.

EasyTrip users won't be able to add an Autosweep account to that sticker until they already have the Neology RFID / RFID pair. The EasyTrip RFID load cannot be utilized on the SMC Tollways that use Autosweep. Thus drivers should be aware that they must keep two different load wallets.

It's not required for drivers who already have both EasyTrip and Autosweep RFID stickers on their cars to use the Neology RFID, according to EasyTrip. Since drivers still need to maintain two RFID wallets, they can keep both.

Because users only need to visit one RFID site to use both services, the Neology RFID / RFID dual sticker is the preferable choice for people who recently purchased brand-new cars or for those who haven't yet subscribed to both EasyTrip and Autosweep.

In our every busy day life, convenience is everything! RFIDs are a big help in making travel more convenient. That's why it's a good thing that the government and corporations keep improving this system to make more convenient travel from north to south.
