Indoor Sports That You Can Try Inside your Condo

Mar 03, 2022

Ever since the lockdown started in the country, people have been deprived of going into sports facilities to continue their active lifestyle. Hence, people have been staying at home for the longest time. Although after a year, facilities have started to open but with limited capacity. Even with the slight openings, it is still hard to play our favorite sports due to fully booked facilities. With this, there are still a lot of available indoor sports that you can play inside your condo.

Table Tennis

Table tennis is essentially an indoor sport, but you don't need a table tennis table to participate. Turn any table (including your dining table) into a table tennis table with the help of a roll-net that attaches to any table, or play wall table tennis if you don't have a partner by hitting the wall back and forth with the help of a wall. Table tennis is a sport in which two or four players use table tennis rackets to hit a lightweight ball back and forth. The game is played on a hard table separated by a net. Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce only once on their side of the table before returning it to the opposite side. Points are awarded when a player fails to return the ball in accordance with the rules.

Running/Treadmill workout

If you can’t join a race or a marathon, don’t worry because you can still feel the presence of running at home. Running races are competitions to see who can run the longest distance in the shortest amount of time. Today, competitive running events are at the heart of the athletics sport. Treadmill workouts can be among the most effective, challenging, and calorie-burning routines available. The key is in the intervals. Instead of trudging along at a steady pace, you'll mix up your speed and incorporate floor exercises into your routine with intervals. With a treadmill, you will feel that you are still racing or doing a marathon.

Weightlifting

Weightlifting is the only barbell sport in the Olympic program. It is also known as Olympic-style weightlifting or Olympic weightlifting. The snatch and clean and jerk are the two competition lifts. Competitors are divided into weight classes and genders, and the winner of each category is the person who lifts the most weight when the results of each lift are added together. Weightlifting is a technical, strength/power sport that necessitates exceptional coordination, flexibility, balance, speed, and strength. You can buy your barbels depending on your preferred weight and size. Weightlifting is also done by people who do not compete, it is their way to stay healthy as well.

Dance

Many dancers consider dancing to be a sport because it involves considerable physical stamina, strong muscles, and outstanding flexibility. You will always be using all of your muscles while dancing, no matter what form of dance you are doing, and this can frequently be for several hours every day. You can enjoy dancing inside your condo by simply watching tutorials or dance videos.

Darts

Darts is a throwing game in which players fire tiny missiles towards a target known as a dartboard. Darts is a pub game played throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, in addition to being a competitive sport. Both men and women can play this game, though there are no rules prohibiting women from competing against men. A dartboard can be used to play a variety of games, but the most common is a game in which the player shoots three darts per visit to the board with the purpose of lowering or increasing a set score.

Indoor Sports that You Can Play in Sports Facilities Available in the Metro

Basketball

Hailed as one of the most popular sports in the country, basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five active players compete for points by hurling a ball through a 300 cm (10 ft) high hoop (the 'basket') while following organized regulations. This sport is usually played on an indoor basketball court. To safeguard the ball and score a goal, it is dribbled and passed among players. On a backboard, the basket or hoop is placed horizontally at a height of 10 feet. Each team tries to defend their own goal while also attempting to score on the opposing team's side of the court.

Badminton

Badminton is a sport with two players or two pairs of players using light rackets to volley a shuttlecock over a high net that divides the court in half in this game played on a rectangular court. In a badminton game, every player inside the scope of the playing court can score points. No matter who is serving at the time, a point can be scored for each. According to the Badminton World Federation, modern badminton games can be played up to 21 points.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a team indoor sport in which players use a ball and a net to compete. On each side of the net, there are teams. One side hits the ball over the net and onto the opposing team's court; the opposing team then has three tries to hit the ball back over the net and in bounds without allowing the ball to contact the ground.

Sports for Active and Healthy Lifestyle

Maintaining physical exercise and participation in sports has numerous health benefits. Increased cardiovascular fitness, bone health, a lower chance of obesity, better sleep, and better coordination and balance are just a few of the advantages. It's also a good idea to cut down on sedentary activities like watching TV or playing video games, which can be just as essential as boosting physical activity.

Sport is beneficial for reasons other than physical fitness. Playing sports generally entails being a member of a team, which allows for the development of talents in a variety of areas. Playing team sports promotes cooperation and sharing, as well as resilience, goal-setting, and relationship-building. Learning to lose is another key ability that is frequently discovered while participating in sports. Now, get up because maybe it's your time to try a sport.
