Save the Date for 2023 Holidays in the Philippines!

Oct 27, 2022

With all the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to forget that we're only sometimes on our best behavior. That's why I'm going to share with you a list of holidays in the Philippines so you can remember them when they come around again!

Here are 7 of the holidays in 2023 you do not want to miss:

February 25, 2023 - People Power Revolution

The day marked the end of Marcos' dictatorship and the beginning of democracy in the Philippines.

On February 25, 2023, millions gathered in Diliman and Rizal to protest against President Ferdinand Marcos' declaration of martial law. They marched towards Malacañang Palace, where they were met by tanks and soldiers who opened fire on them. This was called the People Power Revolution (or simply "People Power") because it was led by civilians instead of military personnel or police officers.

The revolution resulted in Corazon Aquino winning her election as president after promising that she would end corruption within government agencies; this promise helped gain support among Filipinos because they felt she could be trusted not to sell out their country as previous presidents did before her (e.g., Gloria Macapagal Arroyo).

April 9, 2023 - Araw ng Kagitingan

On April 9, a national holiday will be observed in honor of the anniversary of the Battle of Bataan. The battle took place from 1942 to 1945 and is considered one of the most critical battles in Filipino history. It was also known as "The Last Great Stand" because it was fought by Filipino soldiers against overwhelming odds and resulted in their total defeat at the hands of American forces led by Gen. Douglas MacArthur during World War II (1939-1945).

The next day is also an official holiday called Araw ng Kagitingan (Day for Valor), which commemorates all those who died during World War II or who gave their lives so that others could survive; it honors their sacrifice as well as those who continue to serve today within our Armed Forces despite facing threats from terrorists around us every single day without fail!

May 1, 2023 - Labor Day

Labor Day is a holiday celebrated by many countries. It is celebrated on May 1 and commemorates workers' contributions to society. The Philippines is a public holiday for national workers and employees who have been working for at least six months without interruption.

This day's significance lies in encouraging people to work for others instead of themselves or just get paid for doing nothing! For example, suppose you own your own business but have yet to have any employees (or maybe even if you do). In that case, Labor Day can be used as an opportunity for both parties involved - i.e., yourself and your customers/clients/patients - to show appreciation by giving them something special like discounts on their orders or services rendered throughout May 1-3rd (depending upon whether they're being done on Monday through Friday).

June 12, 2023 - Independence Day

This day celebrates the Philippines' declaration of independence from Spain in 1898. It's also a national holiday in the Philippines, and celebrations include parades and concerts. Flag-raising ceremonies are held in many public schools, as well as at embassies around the world (including yours!)

August 21, 2023 - Ninoy Aquino Day

Ninoy Aquino Day is an official national holiday in the Philippines. It is celebrated on August 21 every year to honor fallen former president Corazon Aquino and all other victims of the 1986 People Power Revolution. The day was declared a public holiday after Republic Act No. 11021 or "An Act Declaring Ninoy Aquino Day as a Special Non-Working Holiday." The law states that it shall be observed annually on Mondays from July 16 until December 31 (except during Holy Week).

The primary purpose of this day is to honor former Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino along with her siblings, who were martyred during the EDSA revolution, which ousted then-President Ferdinand Marcos from power after years under his dictatorship and dictatorship regime had caused many deaths among its citizens due to human rights abuses such as torture and forced disappearances which occurred throughout those years up until 1986 when martial law was lifted by President Estrada through another constitution reform charter--which wasn't approved by nearly half million Filipinos at first but eventually did receive approval from them later on--and had been reinstated as part of reforms made by Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's administration after being elected into office in 2004 elections held around same time frame just before EDSA Revolution taking place earlier this year...

August 28, 2023 - National Heroes' Day

Andres Bonifacio, the founder of the Katipunan (Revolutionary Brotherhood), was born on this day in Tondo, Manila. He was a member of the secret society called the Katipunan that fought against Spanish colonial rule during the Philippine Revolution, which led to independence from Spain in 1898.

November 30, 2023 - Bonifacio Day

Bonifacio Day is a national holiday in the Philippines. It commemorates Andres Bonifacio's death anniversary and his role as a Filipino revolutionary leader and one of the founders of the Katipunan. President Emilio Aguinaldo established the day through Executive Order No. 633 on May 12, 1899 (which also established Independence Day). The holiday is celebrated on November 30 with parades, concerts, festivals, and other events that honor this great man who fought for freedom against Spain during their colonization period over 300 years ago!
