Benefits of Exercising in Your Condo

Oct 25, 2021

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity per week. A combination of both activities is also good. The guidelines suggest that a person should do this kind of exercise for one week. For even greater health benefits and to lose or maintain weight, a minimum of 300 minutes per week is recommended.

It is also recommended to do strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least twice a week. Try to do only one set of each exercise with a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions.

As a general goal, one person should at least have 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day.

Although these exercises include activities such as walking, biking, swimming, and mowing the lawn. Vigorous exercise includes activities such as running and dancing. Strength training may include the use of weight equipment, your body weight, heavy bags, resistance tubes or resistance rowing in water, or activities such as climbing.

This type of activity also requires outside and outdoor premises. People may think that it may be a little bit challenging for those who reside in a condominium residence but it's not.

Exercising is made easy in condo living.

Having the gym as one of the common areas in a condominium is an excellent option for those who want to take care of their physical and mental health that allows them to live a healthier lifestyle.

Here are some benefits of exercising in your condo:

There is no need to go out and pay for the gym

Working out in a condo gym will save time and residents can use it for other activities. No need to waste time or stress to go to the gym from home. At most, a person may have to wait for a few minutes for the elevator to arrive and that's it. You can use the extra time to complete a workout more calmly.

Safety and Convenience

Having a space in your condo is very convenient for those who want to avoid commuting and do not want to exercise with many people. There is surveillance by cameras, tight security, and alarms to take care of the residents. It is indeed one of the benefits of condo living that gives the convenience of being comfortable in an environment.

It is a motivation and promotes a healthy lifestyle

One of the main reasons people don't go to the gym is because they prefer to come home after a long day at work or on campus. That's okay, but never reaching your fitness goals can be frustrating due to the stress of hitting the gym every day. However, if a condo has a gym, people have no excuse to skip their workout. This kind of lifestyle motivates a person and eventually, it will make them happier and healthier in the long run.

Provides private space

If you are not comfortable with having to work out with other people, having a little exercise space inside a unit is enough. Just work on the appropriate condo design of a unit that can provide space for work-out materials and machines. The space will provide everyone the motivation and private time they need to ensure the quality of their exercise. Little physical activity is also helpful. Being active for a short period of time during the day can have many health benefits.

Meet potential gym buddies

At the gym, everyone has the chance to meet people with similar fitness goals that can share their tips and workouts that may or may not have been effective. You can also make new friends who share the same passion for being physically active. This could lead to new friends and responsible partners that will keep you hooked when it comes to showing up for your workouts.

Types of exercises you can do inside your condo unit:

Yoga Poses

Yoga is the perfect exercise you can do inside your unit. You just need enough space to accommodate your body while stretching. Yoga only requires a yoga mat and relaxing music in the background. This type of exercise improves flexibility, increases blood flow, and builds muscle strength.

Pilates

An alternative for yoga sessions is pilates inside your bedroom. Unlike yoga, the only equipment you need for a pilates session is a mat. This type of activity will help reduce lower back pain, improve strength, and improve muscle control. Pilates is a recommended exercise for older people.

Tai Chi

Low-impact exercises can be performed in the comfort of your condo. For an energy boost, practice tai chi early in the morning. This ancient Chinese tradition, also known as "moving meditation," reduces stress levels, relieves pain, and increases flexibility and balance. You can do tai chi for 10-15 minutes in your living room or on your balcony to gain access to air and natural light.

Step Up

Step up is a kind of Intensive exercise. Doing it per day can increase your strength and flexibility. Using a bench, place your right foot on the raised surface and your left foot on the floor. Jump up and switch your feet on the bench. Do 15 reps on each side.

Exercising along with a balanced diet and good sleep is the key to a healthy lifestyle. In fact, given the many stressors in our environment, work harder to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
