Condo Tips: Are We Ready for World War?

Mar 01, 2022

What is happening to the world? An unending battle with a disease, global warming, nuclear war, and the conflict of nations. What will happen to us when another World War happens? Are we ready enough? Are we even preparing for this? What will happen to us people during the conflict of the nations?

What is the World War?

It was defined as a war that engaged many large nations or the principal nations of the world. It was called a “world war”, because, from others' perspectives, it is the war that created the idea that the whole world was collapsing. In the simplest term, it was an international conflict. In our history so far, there have already been two world wars.

World War I and World War II, these wars are becoming historic among all the nations in all countries that have experienced it. To start with, to give you a brief background on when this World War started, here are some facts that might help you. Before we talk about if we were ready for another world war, let’s get to know the previous world wars.

World War I

On the 28th of July 1914, the first world war occurred. This was named World War I and also known as the Great War. The war was started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, who was then pregnant, were assassinated. The Archduke’s murder launch into a war across Europe and was lasted until 1918. Aside from this, the heir of the throne of Austria and Hungary was Franz Ferdinand, and they blamed Serbia for the assassination and so declared war. Moreover, other countries joined in the war. Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria (known as the Central Powers) fought against Great Britain, Italy, Russia, France, Romania, the United States, and Japan (these are the Allied Powers). The Allied Powers claimed victory, by the time the war was over. There are more than 16 million people – combined civilians and soldiers that were dead.

Another fact from World War I is that soldiers live in trenches. “No Man’s Land” is what they called back then the land between the two. There were a lot of barbed wires in the surroundings as well as very dangerous landmines. During a war, there were some major battles, these were the following:

  • Battle of Tannenberg
  • First Battle of Marne
  • Battle of Gallipoli
  • Battle of Verdun
  • Battle of Jutland
  • Battle of Somme

In addition, the war finished when Germany signed an agreement for peace and to stop the war immediately, which was called an Armistice.

World War II

The Second World War was often abbreviated as WWII or WW2. It is another global war from our history that lasted from 1939 to 1945. WWII started in Europe, when Germany invaded Poland, on September 1, 1939. It was all started when the leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler, together with the Nazi Party, decided to rule over Europe. Apart from this, there were numerous major causes of WWII. The major causes include the impact of Treaty Versailles following WWI, failure of appeasement, the worldwide economic depression, Germany and Japan's rise of militarism, and the League of the Nations' failure.

World War II is the war against The Allies and The Axis. In the Axis– Germany, Italy, and Japan; while in the Allies, there’s France, Great Britain, Soviet Union, United States, and China. After 20-year of peace between these lands from World War I, World War II was also known as the largest war in history as it recorded millions of deaths, the bloodiest conflict indeed.

World War 1, was fought from trenches, but World War 2 fought using bombs, missiles, tanks and used the Navy, Air Force, and Armies. This has caused devastation to large areas of land and people. Similar to World War 1, has some of the main battles, these were the following:

  • Battle of Britain
  • Pearl Harbour
  • Battle of Berlin
  • D-Day
  • Battle of Stalingrad

When and how did World War II end? The unconditional surrender of Germany ended the war in May 1945. While in the East, the war ended on August 19, 1945, when Japan surrendered unconditionally. After the United States dropped atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, that was when Japan decided to surrender the war.

These are only a small part of our very vast and long history. But the question is, are we ready for another world war?

Are we heading towards World War III?

Tens of millions of lives were claimed by the two world wars. The ever-present fear of World War III at the start of the 21st century seemed to be in our historic rearview. Yet the event from the past seemed to have a comeback. The war between the nations is inevitable.

There are many numbers of pathways that wars start through. The past world wars happened through deliberate action, and the other one was a crisis that became out of control. With the war happening between Russia and Ukraine these days, is this implying that we are heading towards another world war? When will World War III start?

Are we ready for a world war?

Today’s generation was different from the others who preceded. We are not entirely sure about how well-equipped we are in military terms, but to answer this question as if we are ready for a world war as a country alone, of course, we are not prepared as others can be. However, one of the reasons why we enter the alliance treaty is because, honestly speaking, given that we are not as developed as other countries, we’re not prepared for a world war. One thing is that we do not have an enormous amount of budget that we can allocate to our defense and military modernization. And even though we have a budget on this, there’ll still be a problem the moment we start increasing our military capacity. In addition, on increasing our military budget, this will be very hard the fact that a lot needs to be focused on the budget, especially here in our country

At these times of crisis, building an alliance is very crucial. We can’t guarantee what will be going to happen next. But with the alliance treaty, we have for sure at least an ally or allies that can back us up in times of crisis like this.

At the end of the day, the circumstances happening right now are disturbing. We do not know what will happen next, so if you are able to get the chance, do what makes you happy and live life to the fullest.
