The online business world covers everything from clothes, shoes, accessories, food, baked goods, and unique products.

The Iconic Filipino Memes of 2021

With all the negativity happening around, all we need is a good laugh to refresh our day. You may remember the famous Lyca Gairanod and Karen Davila's birthday meme. Shortly after learning that they had the same birthday, Karen Davila was shocked and shouted "Oh my God!" that surprised Lyca. That’s it, a meme was born.

Another one is Nadine Lustre’s photo of buying a Lechon sauce. The actress was captured bare-faced and dressed simply in a store in Siargao. After it was posted, it became viral and several memes followed after.

The Squid Game Global Phenomenon

Red light green light, even a non-K-Drama fan would know this famous phrase. The Squid Game is the latest K-content that has captivated the world since it premiered on Netflix last September 21, 2021. Squid Game topped the trend in just 4 days after its release on Netflix, making it top # 1 in many countries.

However, despite the dark tones of the series, people participated in the games played in the series. From making reels with red light and green light filters on Instagram, participating in the Dalgona Coffee Challenge, buying squid game clothes, and creating memes, the hype for squid games continues longer than 1 month. Not only the viewers but brands have also used its theme, maintaining the immense popularity of this series.

Axie Infinity

You might have probably heard about Axie Infinity Scholarships and games, but you may not know how they work or how to get involved. There are many Play2Earn games, but none capture the imagination and affection of as many people as Axie Infinity. If you grew up in the last decade, you may remember playing and collecting Pokemon cards as well as your little Tamagotchi. Inspired by these classic games, Axie Infinity features adventure and P2P mode where you face quests and fight other players in the arena for rewards.

This popular blockchain game helps you spend time, but you make money. Players are paid in cryptocurrencies that often amount to 20,000-50,000 PHP per month. You can earn money at home or while being in a condo living in the Philippines. You can also play it anywhere you can take your cell phone, computer, and tablet.

This romantic comedy series is 2021's highlight Kdrama. Hometown Cha Cha Cha consistently topped the series and film on Netflix. It dominated Netflix Philippines' top 10 from September to October. Its lead stars are Shin Min-a, Kim Seon-ho, and Lee Sang-Yi.

The emotions and relatable characters captured the viewers' attention. This drama is not about the big events, but it depicts the small stories and emotional changes in our daily life. It is about healing and warmth. The message of the series makes it easier for Filipinos to relate to. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is the perfect show for the weekend if you want to relax from long and tiring work.

Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" Feels and Re-Recorded Songs

The re-recording, which has already topped the US iTunes chart, is another example of pop culture's obsession with nostalgia. The emotion of her re-recorded version comes from remembering a specific moment and reflecting on our experiences between the past and the present, making it relatable for everyone.

When Taylor Swift dropped the 10-minute version of All Too Well on November 12, cries of relatable comments and deep feelings flooded social media. Taylor Swift has a strong bond with her fans, which is why "All Too Well" became so popular. The music video, which premiered on November 13 has been viewed 56 million times on YouTube as of date. We remember it all too well.

Every year is a new challenge, and given the hard times from the pandemic, it's hard to count all the good things that happened in our lives. But looking back in 2021, we might think that it is not a bad year after all.
