What To Do In Cubao Expo Near Your Condo in Cubao

Jun 09, 2022

Thank God It's Friday! A phrase that tastes sweet on our lips as we take one last bite of the bitter week of work. Fridays used to be much fun, especially at night: people rushing out of work or school, finally coloring in long-drawn-out plans, dancing the night away—indeed, a time to unwind and be free. The nightlife scene flourished until the pandemic occurred, and the once-bustling places were suddenly devoid of life; nightlife had faded.

But now that we're slowly easing into a 'new normal,' public spaces are reopening their doors to the people, hoping to revive the heart that was once pumped. After two years of isolation, going out in public may seem strange. The once-normal habits we never imagined we'd be able to live without for years have now become something that leaves us puzzled, if not uncomfortable. How do you initiate and maintain conversations with people? How do you generally act in public? What used to be my favorite activities? What's a good place for me to hang out alone or with others? Given our situation, such worries are understandable, so we're providing you with a refresher on some information you'll need to keep your social life afloat.

What better place to start than somewhere we all get excited about? It's the Cubao Expo, of course! Cubao Expo, formerly known as the Marikina Shoe Expo, is one of Metro Manila's most popular nightlife destinations, known for its artsy and eccentric establishments. In the mornings, people flock to the U-shaped compound to shop for vinyl records, thrift clothing, shoes, and other vintage items and sit in quirky cafes. However, when the clock strikes 10 p.m., expect to see a bevy of young people filling the place in wild outfits and colorful bucket hats, poised to drown themselves in liquor and after-hours memories.

Now, use this as your Cubao Expo map to answer the question, "What to do at Cubao Expo?"

Bellini's

Starting with Cubao Expo restaurants that will have your mouth watering and tummy grumbling, Bellini's is well-known for serving a wide variety of Italian classics, authentic al dente pasta, and pizza. Did you know that this is the same restaurant where Popoy and Basha's squad hung out in the film One More Chance? If it doesn't convince you to visit them, then I don't know what will (perhaps their Ravioli Tartufo).

Fred's Revolucion

Fred's Revolucion, which markets itself as a "home of sincere drinkers," is a go-to spot for booze and tasty meals. The resto-bar is a popular nightcap destination where you can taste a variety of alcoholic beverages and match them with bar chow, deli fare, and more options like Hoi Chi Wings and Pepito's Sofrito, and Bagnet Blanchan. At Fred's, everyone is welcome to seek refuge and have a good time over drinks.

Habanero Kitchen Bar

Habanero Kitchen Bar—named after one of the hottest peppers on the planet—serves up creatively plated Filipino dishes like their famous Lechon Habanero (a Filipino dish likened to Korea's samgyupsal), Sizzling Oyster, Mussels Sisig Pizza, Smokey Tapa Steak, and Turon Habanero, among others.

INT. Bar

INT. Bar is an authentic speakeasy that serves unique cocktails, delicious cuisine, and a pleasant atmosphere that will undoubtedly relieve you of the stress of daily life. This hideaway, which has an entrance that looks like a photo booth, is a little room that effectively reflects the beauty of the Cubao Expo scene. Don't forget to taste one of their specialty cocktails; if you don't, you're missing out!

Enough of Cubao Expo restaurants and bars; here are some other places you might enjoy visiting and doing other activities in:

Bumi and Ashe

Looking for a hobby that is both relaxing and productive? Then try your hand at pottery-making! Bumi and Ashe, a pottery studio that offers workshops such as pottery wheel and hand sculpting to help you become a potter, is a good place to start. Bumi and Ashe is a two-story creative space where you can learn to hand-build and even take a break in their cafe upstairs.

Address: 59a Cubao Expo Driveway, Quezon City.

My Breathing Space

This is the place to go if you're looking for perfect vintage finds like music boxes, posters, analog clocks, toys, comic books, and other vintage goods in pristine condition! My Breathing Space is one of the few gift shops inside Cubao Expo, with over 7,000 antiquities on display and new items added every month or two. It's the only store with a small garden and a coffee vending machine at the entryway.
