How to Get a Vaccination Certificate | Condo Tips

Nov 29, 2021

Different countries in the world have now employed vaccination to their citizens against COVID-19. Even with the vaccination ease, some countries still require specific protocols before a tourist enters their premises. Some of the travel protocols include, negative results from COVID-19, needs to be fully vaccinated, and now, a vaccination certificate.

On August 6, 2021, after several months of consultation, the World Health Organization (WHO) released the technical specifications and implementation guidelines for "Digital Documentation of COVID 19 Certificates: Vaccination Status" (DDCC: VS). bottom. As governments around the world deploy their own Covid19 certificates, the guidance of the Global health authority was expected to establish a global approach that prioritizes public health. Therefore, WHO respects and promotes what should be included in these certificates, what data needs to be collected, and most importantly, does not harm individuals and respects their right to health. Each country decides which aspects are needed to be taken into account in order to protect everyone’s rights.

What is a Vaccination Certificate?

A vaccination certificate is proof that you have successfully completed the vaccination course. Certificates gradually become tickets that can be used for multiple services. Nowadays, people need a vaccination card to travel abroad. The vaccination certificate is a functional card that consists of vaccination data such as date, vaccine, vaccine location, and other relevant information of the vaccinated person.

Governments of each country have to be clear and transparent that getting vaccinated and presenting a vaccination card does not mean that someone is at no risk.

The current position of the World Health Organization, updated July 2, 2021, states: “National authorities and conveyance operators should not require proof of vaccination as a condition of entry or exit, given the limited (although growing) evidence about the performance of vaccines in reducing transmission and persistent inequities in global vaccine supply.”

In the Philippines

VaxCertPH serves as a national vaccine certification system under the Department of Informations and Technology (DICT) and Department of Health (DOH). According to DICT, digital vaccination certificates comply with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) digital guidelines. It should represent the vaccination status of the certificate holder. Currently, the system is intended only for fully vaccinated people. It is free and can be accessed from the VaxCert PH online portal. For security, VaxCertPH uses encryption with private and public keys. The program also aims to provide Filipinos traveling abroad with certain vaccination records recognized in foreign countries.

However, the vaccination certificate system is not yet open to the general public. Residents from Metro Manila and Baguio City can be issued to Overseas Filipino Workers. Meanwhile, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), it will be launched soon in Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao.
