From the city's beautiful beaches, breathtaking waterfalls, and delicious delicacies, it is safe to say that the town lives up to its nickname as "The Gateway to a Thousand Journeys," as it gives endless unique things to do in Cebu. It is Visaya's top tourist spot and one of the best tourist spots here in the Philippines. If you are curious to know more about Cebu, here's Top 7 of what to do in Cebu City in 2022:

Beach Hopping

From North, South, East, and West of Cebu, you will never run out of beaches to go to. Some of their famous beaches can be found in the Northern and Southern parts.

Some of the best beaches in the Philippines can be found at North Cebu Beaches. The variety of beaches in Cebu North are distinctive to the area and feature gleaming white sands, palm tree-lined shorelines, and azure waters that seem drinkable! Malapascua and Bantayan Island are two of the famous islands where you can find the best beaches.

You can also enjoy island hopping in Mactan. Hilutungan is frequently the starting point of Mactan island hopping excursions because it is the closest to the mainland (accessible within 30 minutes). The island is the oldest in the province and a designated marine sanctuary. Octopodes, crabs, and giant clams are among the diverse inhabitants of Hilutungan, which also have excellent underwater visibility.

If you want less crowded beaches, you can try searching for secret places in Cebu where you can find spectacular beaches like Lambug White Beach and Hale Manna Coastal Gardens.

Diving

If you love free-diving and seeing the beauty underwater, then Moalboal is best known for its Sardine Run and is a mainstay in tourist destinations along the province's south-western coast. Imagine swimming in waters filled with millions of sardines. Snorkeling might even allow you to see sea turtles if you're fortunate.

This underwater wonder has been described as breathtaking and surreal by tourists who have experienced it. The sardines don't leave the Moalboal shallows, which adds to the wonder of this spectacle. Even with just a pair of swimming goggles, you can enjoy them all year long.

Canyoneering

Regarding canyoneering, Kawasan Falls is the best place to visit in Cebu. Canyoneering in Kawasan offers a thrilling water adventure that takes you through imposing gorges, and stalactite boulders. Take a canyoneering tour to Kawasan Falls. You can swim through the river canyons, descend them by rappel, and even jump off 30-foot-high cliffs into Kawasan Falls' azure pools.

City Tour

If you are living or staying in a Condo in Cebu, then you have to book a city tour when you go to Cebu. You will be brought to famous places like the Temple of Leah, Sirao Garden, Magellan's Cross, etc. If it is your first-time visiting Cebu, go to these famous attractions.

Temple of Leah, for example, is the Taj Mahal of Cebu. This landmark has become famous for its magnificent building features of granite floors, Doric columns, a marble fountain, and several statues in the Grecian style. Not to mention the spectacular view of Cebu that you can see from the hills of Busay, where it is located.

During the nighttime, visit Cebu IT Park and enjoy the best hangout places you can find like Sugbo Mercado, Ambiance Bar, The Pyramid, etc.

Water Adventures

For Water adventurers, the northern Cebu island of Camotes offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits. The Holy Crystal Cave on Camotes Island is one of the most well-liked. The Holy Crystal Cave's chambers are naturally shaped downward, making them unique.

After entering through a small opening above ground, visitors must descend eight levels to reach the chambers. The cave contains stalactites and stalagmites that are in good condition.

Lake Danao, also known as the Lover's Lake locally, is another distinctive aspect of Camotes. The lake interestingly represents the number eight. It is the largest in the Visayas Region at 700 hectares. Lake Danao is a great place to go kayaking because of its vastness. You can also take a lake cruise in the evening.

For both groups and couples, it's a fantastic relaxing activity. Additionally, Lake Danao takes great pride in being spotless. The lake is home to several free-swimming ducks and tilapia. Cliff diving at Buho Rock will close your thrilling Camotes Island adventure. This notorious cliff's ship-like rock formations make for an exciting jump-off point. You can make a 30-foot leap off if you're an adrenaline junkie. On the other hand, beginners can choose the 10-foot cliff, a more approachable choice that still provides an adrenaline rush.

Learn about Catholicism and its history

Magellan's Cross is a great place to start if you intend to visit any of the historical sites in Cebu. The province of Cebu has a long history and has been the site of many significant occasions. One such occasion is establishing the Christian religion in the Philippines, commemorating Magellan planting a cross on the territory.

It is thought that the Portuguese explorer Magellan introduced Catholicism to the Philippine Archipelago. Books on history describe how Magellan arrived in Cebu in 1521, erected a crucifix, and converted the locals to Christianity. The area surrounding that historical site quickly became Cebu City.

In front of Cebu City Hall is a Spanish-style octagonal pavilion where Magellan's Cross is kept. The massive Tingalo Wood CrossCross on display in the pavilion is said to be holding the original CrossCross inside of it.

Natives began chipping away pieces of the unusual crucifix as souvenirs because they believed it to be a miraculous relic. The 10-foot replica was constructed to encase the CrossCross to protect it. The original crucifix was planted here on April 21, 1521, according to a plaque now mounted on the replica, perched atop a marble podium.

Cebu has a long past and is one of the best places to get in touch with the Philippines' history. Fortunately, some buildings from the past are still standing today. For example, Fort San Pedro. During the Spanish occupation, this stone fort was used as a military defense structure in Cebu. You can find Fort San Pedro in the pier area of Cebu City. It is now a museum whose mission is to preserve the history of the Spanish Empire. Many artifacts are found, including paintings, sculptures, and Spanish documents. While viewing the exhibits, you can also picnic inside the fort or stroll along the walkways of Fort San Pedro's three bastions.

Food Trip

Cebu is famous for its delicious delicacies, and one of its trademarks is Lechon. Unlike the other Lechon in some provinces, Cebu's Lechon is renowned for its signature crispy skin and juicy meat that can be eaten without a dip or sawasawan. It is best eaten with "puso" or rice in a heart shape. You can find the best Lechon in Carcar, which is two hours away from the main city, but if you have no time to travel, you can always find a restaurant in Mactan and Cebu city that serves Lechon based on the recipe in Carcar.
