Becky’s Kitchen

Becky’s Kitchen offers home baked goodies such as their famous chocolate cupcakes, cakes, brownies, cheese roll, ensaymada, and others. The shop looks like an old house in the corner where customers can take home goodies for their loved ones. The woman behind the bake shop is Ms. Rebecca Villegas who was a teacher in St. Scholastica’s. She started baking after teaching in her Manila home in 1987. The variety of baked goods is suitable for birthday celebrations, Mother’s day, Father’s Day, or other gatherings. People can also opt to just buy there for snacks, merienda, or even when they are just craving for some cakes or breads.

Kanto Freestyle

Kanto Freestyle has many branches around Metro Manila but it started its first branch in Pasig City. It offers all-day breakfast food featuring affordable Filipino and Western fare such as pancakes, waffles, eggs, chicken, and the usual Filipino silog meals. The owner conceptualized and wanted to revolutionize the kanto or karenderia image, by showcasing the same variety of items that people find in eateries all over the country. The aesthetic of the restaurant is also good for taking pictures and the food is very Instagrammable. 

It is called Kanto Freestyle because customers can mix and match their favorite morning food such as tapa, sunny side eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, tocino, and more. Their best-sellers are New Zealand beef tapa, crispy corned beef, and honey garlic chicken.

Bugis Chomp Chomp Asian Street Food

Chomp Chomp is an asian restaurant which offers Singaporean cuisine such as Laksa, Chicken Rendang, Satay, Singapore ramen, Curry Tonkatsu, and other Singaporean specialties. Bugis or Kampong Bugis in Malay is an area in Singapore which covers Bugis Junction shopping mall and Bugis Street. It is named after the Malay sub-group with origins in South Sulawesi in Indonesia. 

Customers must try the Singaporean Laksa. It is served in a head-turning steel pot over a small fire to keep the soup at the right temperature. The soup has a creamy, spicy, and rich coconut milk broth with a strong seafood taste. It consists of thick egg noodles, squid balls, shrimp, and crunchy bean sprouts as a garnish. Chomp Chomp is one of the best Singaporean cuisines in Malate.

Ate Rica’s Bacsilog

Ate Rica’s Bacsilog started in Taft near De La Salle University-Manila as a humble mobile food cart by the founder Rica Penalosa. It began as a hole-in-the-wall eatery near Taft La Salle, where students on a budget would flock to during lunch hours

 After some time, they opened a permanent stall in Agno located at the back side of DLSU. In April 2015, they extended their service to Espanya to cater to the students in UST. It has also quickly become a Thomasian favorite. Today, they offer several branches in and outside Metro Manila after it ventured into franchising, having Baconnoisseur Corporation with their business partners.

The stall offers famous Filipino silog meals at an affordable price starting at 74 pesos. Ate Rica’s Bacsilog is famous for their creamy and delicious cheese sauce on top of every silog that their customers order. They have a wide-array of meals such as tapsilog, nuggetsilog, tocilog, etc. Aside from that, they also offer sandwiches in their Agno branch such as Burger for 20 pesos, Tuna, Ham, Bacon, Tapa, and Tocino sandwiches. 

Ate Rica’s Bacsilog is located at DLSU Agno St., Malate, Manila, a few minutes walk from Plumeria and Vista Taft.
