How to Adopt a Dog During Pandemic? | Condo Tips

Nov 09, 2021

After months of social isolation, you may be considering adopting a dog as a delightful way to pass the time, get outdoor walks more frequently, and snuggle up. Having a pet in your house may be a source of happiness even in the worst of situations.

This outbreak of COVID-19 is a fantastic example of how dogs can be more than simply companions and companionship through difficult times. If you live in a condo in Manila or are planning on moving to a ready for occupancy condo, condo living doesn't mean you can't own a dog. Regardless of their size, many dogs are pleased to live in condos

Why Adopt a Dog During Pandemic

Quarantine and multitasking were the new norms this year as more people decide to work from home.

Some people reported that their stress levels dropped when their dogs joined them for a cuddle at the end of a hard day. Pet ownership has always been associated with several health advantages, but during the lockdown, many pet owners discovered these benefits for themselves.

Dogs are a constant source of unconditional love for us. For some, spending time with the pet not only elevated their moods, but they would rather spend time with a pet than any other person.

Our pet babies are our closest friends and trustworthy companions during this pandemic since face-to-face human interactions are difficult. Even though they communicate differently, there is something irrefutable about a dog's unconditional affection.

Words and presents are insufficient for dogs to convey their feelings of affection. But they're always there, in their own way, to remind you of how much they value your friendship.

There are a variety of ways that a dog expresses affection, like offering hugs, leaning on your leg, leaping up and down with excitement when you get home or following you around the house. You can also tell them about your innermost ideas and dreams. With their adorably cute appearances, their hearts are always open to their human companions.

Tips for Adopting a Dog if you Live in a Condo

Adopting a dog is a piece of cake. But the responsibility of owning a pet doesn't end with sharing adorable images of them on social media or ignoring them when you're too busy. It’s a responsibility that one should embrace enthusiastically and wholeheartedly. Here are some tips when you have a furry friend in your condo.

Exercise your dog regularly

Taking care of a dog takes a lot of time and effort. When it comes to keeping dogs happy and healthy, the most important thing you can do for them is to make sure they receive enough exercise– and we mean plenty of it.

Your dog will be somewhat constrained if you live in a condo. There won't be many areas for him or her to run about, let off steam, or have fun. In addition to making your furry friend feel confined, this might also lead to him acting out in ways that aren't always beneficial (like chewing up your slippers).

A minimum of twice a day, once in the morning and once in the late afternoon is recommended. Even better if you can get them out for some jogging or a run, or to the dog park.

Create a safe haven for your dog.

Make your furry friend his own small sanctuary in a corner of your condo so that he may relax and unwind. Give him a space to relax by putting a dog bed, a few toys, and his food and water bowls in his nook.

Visit the vet regularly.

Your condo complex may have a common area for residents to relax outside of their homes. Your dog should be vaccinated and parasite-free if other people and animals will be utilizing the communal spaces. Having confirmation of current immunizations will come in handy if your dog is ever accused of biting someone.

Train your dog.

Don't forget about your next-door neighbors. Please be kind to others and remember that you are sharing the area with a large number of people. In a condo, a dog that frequently barks will not be well appreciated. If the dog you adopted is a barker, you should talk to your veterinarian about behavioral training.

Depending on the location, some condos might be rather busy and crowded. To get your dog adjusted to the new noises and settings, assist him or her in adjusting to these changes gradually, carefully, and pleasantly. Crate training may also be an option, especially if a furry friend is a hyperactive breed. In the event that your pet becomes nervous or terrified while you're away, giving him a crate as a safe place might be reassuring.

Pet Adoption in COVID19 Pandemic

The procedure of adopting a new dog has altered significantly in the previous several months, but it is still achievable despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19. Technology is helping shelters and rescues streamline the adoption process. Social distance can still be used to successfully complete adoptions. One of the finest ways to help shelters in need is to adopt a dog!

Animal shelters and rescues are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of their workers, volunteers, and the general public. Since COVID-19, several animal welfare groups have reevaluated their rules in order to guarantee that dogs are matched with their new owners' lives, even when those new owners return to a post-pandemic work schedule.

If you're thinking about adopting a dog, start by looking at the pets that are currently available for adoption. To learn more about how the shelter or rescue group is managing things, contact them. Most of the animal shelters and rescue groups have active Facebook pages and websites. It's possible that they'll be conducting video interviews. Let them know you're ready to adopt! If you pass the interview, a visit will be organized for you. Also, some will ask for an adoption fee, which is a small fee to cover the cost of making sure you get a healthy pet.

Adopt From Rescue Groups or Animal Shelters

Every day in the Philippines, millions of homeless animals fight for their lives on the streets. Adopting one of these wonderful animals is one ethical and humane way to bring a pet into your house. Why? Because for every puppy purchased, an animal shelter loses an opportunity to find a home for another dog. As a result, millions of animals are euthanized each year.

If you've decided to get a dog as a buddy during the COVID-19 pandemic or at any other time, always consider adopting instead of shopping. Inspire others to do the same.
