How to Keep your Desk Organized in your Condo

Here are some steps and tips to keep your workspace tidy. 

The Table Clearing

The first step in most activities is to start from scratch; an organized desk is no different. Predictably, your desk is currently messy and cluttered. Therefore, the best course of action for reorganization is to clear your desk. 

The goal is to remove absolutely everything on top of your desk. Clear your drawers as well if you have some. Leave all of the items on the floor around you so you can go through each and every one of them and see which ones belong and which ones should be permanently discarded.

If you have a rag or cloth, you can wipe your desk with a multi-purpose cleaner. Furniture like this is likely to be very dusty so having a duster along with your clean-up is ideal as well. If you spot any stains or scratches, now would be the time to clean or treat them. 

A condo in squalor is definitely suboptimal condo living. Thus, albeit tedious and time-consuming, cleaning should be a developed habit when working in your condo. 

Going Through your Things

With a clear and clean table, now you can go through the stuff you removed from your desk to see which items you will retain and which items you will discard completely. Examples of items to be discarded are old documents, defective supplies, broken equipment, and trash. Items to keep are documents that are currently still important, and supplies and equipment that can still be used. 

There is a chance that if you are going through your desk items right now, more or less half of those items belong in your trash can. But once you get rid of those unwanted items, you will notice a better condo design since you are working with a lot less but a lot more necessary items. 

Fresh Configuration

A fresh configuration can be small tweaks to your desk layout or a major overhaul. A tweak can be as simple as placing your desktop or laptop on your left side instead of your right side. It can even be just mirroring your previous configuration. On the other hand, an overhaul can be individually switching up where items used to be placed. For example, you change where your keep your wires, supplies, paperwork, and desktop or laptop. 

Whatever configuration you choose, make sure it adapts to your condo design and keeps you engaged in your work. 

Item Arrangement

How you place your items can determine how they will be conducive to your work. If you place common items like a pen, highlighter, or a cutter far from you, it will not only be a hassle, it will be very stressful having to stand up and sit back down repeatedly. Moreover, you might get too lazy to return the item which poses the threat of clutter. 

That being said, where items are placed on your desk should make sense by making life easier for you. For instance, you would want your computer and paperwork right in front of you since this is the main focus. Next, you would want important equipment and supplies like a laptop charger or a pen, respectively, within arms reach of you. 

With a setup like this, life is made easier since items are placed in the most logical location; it will save you the time to search for them. When things are in the right place, condo living becomes simpler. 

An additional tip for this is to place items where you would instinctively search for them. 

Add Personality

This article is about keeping your desk clean and organized but there is never anything wrong with adding a bit of flair and flavor. Just make sure that the additional items do not overwhelm your workspace. These times should only add some personality to your table, not distract you or worse, stress you out. 

Add pictures of your loved ones, place a figurine of your favorite superhero or athlete, or put up an inspirational message. The more attractive the table, the better your condo design will look.
