Set yourself to work during your set working hours and make sure to rest on the time you set your bedtime. Make sure to consistently follow this schedule and eventually turn this into a routine. 

Challenge yourself to only use your bed for sleeping 

Using your bed as your cue that this is your place to sleep helps you to train your brain into making it as an association. With that being said, you should avoid doing any work in your bed. You should have a designated place where you work and a designated place where you can rest. This allows you also to have boundaries within your place. It is also helpful if you keep your bed clean and comfortable all the time so you can have a good night's sleep.

Manage your light and screen time

According to the article, light cues affect circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm which is also known as the internal body clock which includes physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle. These also respond to light and dark which are primarily from living things. 

To manage this, you can have sun exposure every morning during the day to increase your awareness of the sunrise. This will help your system to influence your internal body clock that this is the moment for you to do the work. 

Another important thing is that you avoid using gadgets an hour before your set bedtime. This is because using your gadgets also prevents you from sleeping early. Most especially if you spend mindless time just scrolling to your social media. If you have trouble falling asleep, maybe you can meditate or listen to a sleeping podcast until you fell asleep.

Keep yourself active and eat healthily

Physical activities help your body to stay healthy. It also releases endorphins or feel-good chemicals that will keep you in a better mood. When you release this kind of energy you will also allow yourself to be tired enough and need a good night’s rest. It also allows you to relax and avoid having fatigue from using too many gadgets. This way you are not only helping yourself to be more active but also form healthy habits for your wellbeing.

Another thing, you also have to be mindful of what you drink and eat. Make sure to avoid drinking caffeinated especially at night. Caffeine is proven to keep you awake and active so make sure to only take it during the daytime. 

If you are having trouble sleeping, melatonin is one of the most known sleep aids that can support you to have a better sleep. Try different relaxation techniques

There are a lot of techniques that you can try to support your journey towards having a better sleeping pattern. Here are some suggested ways that you can try:

  • Mindful Meditation includes being focused in the present through being more aware of your consciousness, breathing, and your body. The good thing about this is that this practice can be done anywhere and anytime. It also takes just a few minutes, and you don’t need equipment to try this. Tale time to meditate and be patient with yourself because this takes a lot of practice especially if you will use this to sleep. 
  • Reading a book- another method you can try is through reading. If you have self-help books or any novel at your home, you may want to reread it. In this way, you allow your eyes and your mind to relax from all the work you’ve done. Also, it will move you away from your gadget before you go to bed. 
  • Listening to music- You can also listen to your favorite playlist, just make sure to listen to music that will make you sleepy and not make you sing and be active again
  • Podcast- this has been very popular nowadays that’s why there are a lot of podcasts available that are targeted to listeners who are having a hard time listening. Make sure to listen to topics that will help you to relax.
