As the world slowly starts to return to the normal that we once knew, the Philippines still has a considerable way to go before defeating the COVID-19 pandemic. Although health and safety precautions in public areas are taken very seriously and the vaccine rollout has been continuous, it is still not enough to reach herd immunity and bounce back from the hardships that this global pandemic has caused us.
The herd immunity that the country’s leaders are aiming for requires the inoculation of at least seventy percent of the Philippines population, and the only way to achieve that is to encourage everyone to get vaccinated. With fears of uncertainty as to the main hindrance that is causing hesitation towards the vaccine for most citizens, the best shot when it comes to convincing everyone to get their shot is to educate and inform the public!
There are lots of initiatives that arise to convince people to get the shot of the vaccine. Some are coming from businesses, non-government organizations, and even the local government units. One of which is the Get Vaccinated campaign of Vista Residences.
Vista Residences has released their "Get Vaccinated" campaign, encouraging everyone to secure their vaccine schedule with their Local Government Unit and get their shot, for the safety and well-being of themselves, their loved ones around them, and their country. The Get Vaccinated campaign strongly urges each and every person to stay safe, be responsible, and do their part in the global efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Play your role in the bounce-back of the country from the harm that the coronavirus has caused by getting vaccinated.

The Vaccine and its benefits
According to the World Health Organization and the materials and resources that they have released regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, there are three different approaches to the kinds of vaccines available, the whole microbe approach, the subunit approach, and the genetic approach.
There are three kinds of vaccines that fall under the whole microbe approach, and they include the inactivated vaccine, the live-attenuated vaccine, and the viral vector approach. For the inactivated vaccine, scientists and medical researchers take the bacterium or the disease-carrying part of the virus, and inactivate it, or kill it, with the use of technology and chemicals, heat, or radiation. As for the live-attenuated vaccine, it is made in similar a process to the inactivated vaccine, however, it uses a weakened living version of the virus. Finally, the viral vector vaccine makes use of the proteins from the virus and places them into what is called a safe virus to trigger a response from the immune system.
Moving to the subunit approach, this vaccine does not incorporate a safe virus, since it only uses very specific parts or the subunits of a virus. Lastly, there is the genetic approach that contains DNA or RNA instructions that our bodies will use to create the proteins needed for immunity against the virus.
With all the research, testing, monitoring, and studies put into the development of these vaccines, along with the approval from certified sources, it is safe to say these vaccines are all completely that – safe. To protect yourselves and even the people around you from attaining and spreading the disease and to prevent the severe illnesses caused by COVID-19, the best answer is to get vaccinated. In addition, vaccines will lessen the risk of infecting others who are immunocompromised.
The benefits of mass vaccination go beyond the obvious health factors like immunity and the lessening of the spread of COVID-19 for individuals as well as their loved ones. The economic recovery is also dependent on opening back up the country. With most citizens isolating at home, businesses have greatly suffered since the pandemic hit. However, once the Filipino people choose to get vaccinated, restrictions will ease because of the collective immunity against the virus and businesses may begin to fully operate once again.
Additionally, getting vaccinated means society can return to how things were before the pandemic struck. Face masks, face shields, social distancing, and quarantine as we know it will all become things of the past. Families and loved ones can finally be with each other. Mass gatherings for events like weddings and parties can at last push through. Travel trips that have been postponed or even canceled can be booked and scheduled. Soon people will be allowed to go out and live the lives they have had to put on pause ever since the COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on the world.
According to medical studies, another benefit of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is when soon-to-be mothers get vaccinated, they produce antibodies against the virus and pass it on to their babies through their placenta. It is also said that vaccinated women who have just given birth also pass these antibodies to their newborn babies by breastfeeding. Although there are already extensive studies existing on the vaccines, it is still in the early stage to declare it safe for very young children. That being said, mothers who want safety and protection for their kids and the future generations to come should take the first step and get vaccinated.
Indeed, there are lots of benefits await for you when you’re vaccinated. Staying indoors can save you, but a jab of a vaccine can save many lives.
