Why is it Important to Hire an Architect for your Condo?

Nov 07, 2021

There is a lot to consider when it comes to buying a condo. You want your home or investment property to be in the best location, have the best views, and typically have a modern design. It is not so easy to find someone who can take care of all these requirements for you when you are on your own, but what if you could hire an architect?

In this blog post, we will discuss how hiring an architect is important for your health and safety as well as some other benefits before answering why it is so important.

They provide correct measurement

The architect needs to make the best use of the limited space available; e.g., measure carefully and allow for 3 or 4 meters between building components (this is why balconies are often narrow). If this is not done, there may be issues with water leakage, infiltration of winter air, maintenance issues with snow loads on the chimneys, etc. The architect needs to consider that many different people will occupy these spaces over their lifetime which will also change their requirements afterward. An architect can also see how various works such as cabinets and stairs will fit into these spaces.

They ensure all equipment are available

The architect needs to ensure that all necessary equipment is available! If the architect does not plan for the construction of rainwater tanks, a water supply and connection to the sewer, and a fire sprinkler system, instead of having all these things connect to one pipe which runs along the corridor, the water supply pipe needs to be tucked away towards one corner. Then you can still have your showers and kitchen appliances without wasting precious space with unnecessary pipes.

They plan accurately

The architect needs to plan for the best building material to be used. This is due to the fact that condo buildings are older than houses and therefore need more time and money spent on their maintenance. Additionally, balconies are exposed to the elements since they are accessible by anyone who lives in that condo unit. It is better to use materials that do not require much maintenance, such as iron railings for your balcony instead of wood ones. As mentioned above, you will also want water supply pipes that will not get corroded easily, this way they will not freeze in winter or burst or leak during any other time of year!

They provide the best standards

The architect needs to use a measurement system that corresponds with local standards and practices. This ensures that the owner, the tenant, and any other contractors will not have trouble understanding how everything is supposed to be built.

They consider the future

The architect needs to consider the future, meaning he or she will need to know if there are any rules which are being planned by the local council. If you are planning to build a multi-story building, you need to know if there is a plan for how many floors can be built in that area. That area could have reached its capacity. Certain areas have old zoning laws which do not allow developers to build high-rise apartments or condominiums. It's important that architects know about these rules and prepare their designs according to those existing laws or those that might come into effect in the future. Another example is that many cities have height limits that are constantly changing, this means that you cannot simply build a high-rise building in the middle of a city.

Their plans are aligned with the law

Architects need to know about local laws and regulations to make sure that construction noise does not bother the neighbors in any way. For example, if it's allowed for construction during daytime hours in your area, sometimes it is also permitted to start at night when everyone is asleep. Architects need to be aware of these rules in order to keep any potential nuisance or disturbance at bay or minimize it when possible.

The architect needs to understand how government policies have changed in cities in general in regard to condo living and be able to respond accordingly; e.g. what requirements do you need to meet regarding solar panels, energy bills, etc.

They need to know about building codes

Many different codes are in place when it comes to construction in your area, e.g., size of windows, fire sprinkler systems, etc. Building codes are supposed to help ensure the safety of people living in the city by ensuring that there are no fatal fires or other disasters which could happen due to an unsafe constructio n site. Some laws require fire sprinkler systems even in condos built before any laws were passed for this purpose, so it's important that you ask your architect about this when doing the purchase of your condo!

Even though it is not always so easy to find a good architect who can help you build a stable and safe condo, there are many different kinds of people out there who can help you with this important task. If you have not yet signed a contract with an architect, try searching the internet for a licensed architect in your area or contact your local council for help finding reputable architects. Asking people who live in big cities for recommendations of architects is also a great idea.

If the architect you decide to work with does not seem to have a lot of experience, try asking them for at least two references from previous clients so you can get an idea of how they work and whether their work can pass inspection or not. You could also ask if they have ever worked with contractors before so you can feel more comfortable with the people they recommend to take care of your project.

Hiring an architect can be a very important part of building your condo unit in the best way possible so that you have a safe living environment! However, it all comes down to your budget and whether or not you think hiring an architect is necessary for the particular type of condo you are planning to build. In the end, it is up to your choice whether or not you want an architect working on your project. However, if you do decide to hire one, be sure that he or she is well-versed in all the necessary areas such as plumbing, electrical, and other things which you need for your condo project.
