Condo Tips: Things to Do in Preparation for Ber Months

Sep 21, 2021

Halfway across the world, September marks the beginning of autumn. For students, September indicates the start of classes. Meanwhile, for Filipinos, September commences the four-month celebration! ‘Ber’ months are all about festivities. Although physically and socially distant, the spirit of Christmas remains vigorous and alive.

As the holiday season starts early, this could be the perfect time to prepare the yuletide budget for the non-stop virtual get-togethers and gift-giving with family and friends. There are almost three months left before Christmas so there is plenty of time to plan for the at-home celebration. Follow these 10 tips to remain cheerful and happy, while saving money, all the way to the final week of 2021!  There are almost three months

Make a gift list

Identify and list down all the people that will be given holiday gifts. Write down a personalized and creative gift idea to each one on the list. Don’t forget to set a budget and canvas the gifts in different online shops and platforms. After the initial checking of prices, check if the total price is still within the planned budget. Remember, it is okay not to put everyone on the list!

Think of a gift great for groups

Instead of giving gifts individually, consider giving one gift for a family or a friend group. Find an interest or something in common that a group has. Choose something that the group will enjoy. Some perfect group gifts are a portable sofa bed suitable for condo living, fancy household silverware perfect for families with a luxurious-themed condo design, or a pizza dinner for a family planning the layout of their pre-selling condo.

Set a spending schedule

Do not just spend all your savings and bonus pay in just one shopping! There’s a lot of time to plan so spread out the money spending in the next months. Follow the gift list that was planned and start buying the items incrementally. This can help lessen that big total in December and help avoid that holiday online shopping rush! This can also help give more time to carefully package, design and personalize the gifts.

Reuse and recycle

Gift wrappers and new Christmas tree decorations from last year can be used again this year! Do not think that there is still a need to buy a new one. Reuse and recycle what is available. Non-traditional packaging materials such as newspapers, magazine covers, paper bags and even bubble wrap from all that online shopping can be used! Not only will these save money but also lessen your carbon footprint.

Use rebates and credit card rewards points

It’s time all those card rewards and rebates come to good use. These can help lessen gift spending because points are as good as real cash. Check your total points earned for the past year and all the upcoming promotions the card will have during holidays. Rewards points will help ease your holiday spending.

Double-check that list

The main goal is to be strategic with the expenses and the list will help accomplish that. Double-checking is important because it will serve as a reminder to not go past the budget and do not go overboard in spending. The budget for gift-giving for Christmas should only be a small fraction of your income so make sure that the rest of the money left is for more important agendas like investment and emergency funds.

Give yourself a gift

As it is usual to think of others when giving a gift, make sure to include yourself. Buy that thing you have been dreaming of for the longest time or use that money to invest. Take this chance to use that money for something that will benefit you in the long term, not just items that will provide distraction or entertainment for a limited time.

Consider property as that perfect gift! It is a great investment option that can generate passive income. Build a personal future and wealth with a value that increases over time. All that money that was saved up from the past years can be used to buy that dream property!
